Ukraine fails to quash treaty award in Paris

The Paris Court of Appeal has dismissed a request by Ukraine to set aside a US$112 million investment treaty award in favour of Russian oil company Tatneft.

Russian BIT claimant loses suit against Ukrainian oligarchs

One of Russia’s largest oil producers has lost a US$380 million UK court case against a group of Ukrainian oligarchs including the controversial Igor Kolomoisky – which it said was prompted by evidence that emerged in a related investment treaty arbitration.

Another Crimea panel in place at the PCA

An UNCITRAL tribunal has been formed to hear the first investment treaty claim by a Ukrainian state entity arising from Russia’s 2014 annexation of Crimea, as hearings take place in similar cases brought by private investors at the Permanent Court of Arbitration.
