Panama court sets aside award against non-signatories

The Panamanian Supreme Court has partially annulled an award in favour of an Ecuadorean port authority that held affiliates of a Hong Kong conglomerate liable under a concession contract that they had not signed.

An ICSID annulment committee has lifted a stay of enforcement of a US$380 million award in favour of ConocoPhillips against Ecuador, ruling that the state's budgetary pressures - Including the cost of a devastating earthquake - do not justify delaying payment.
