Jordan defeats ICSID claim over tax on telecoms sale

Kuwaiti investors have failed in an ICSID claim against Jordan over a US$81 million tax bill on the sale of a mobile phone company that caused public disquiet, with a dissenting arbitrator finding the tax was “politically motivated”.
