- Who’s Who Name:
- Hellwig Torggler
Though it offers a spectrum of advice from tax to IP, international arbitration is a big part of life there, according to those familiar with the work.
The pillar of the practice is Hellwig Torggler, a former vice president of the ICC court with a direct line to numerous Austrian boardrooms. As an arbitrator, he’s reputed to be adept at marshalling large cases and generally keeping the tone constructive.
The other members of the firm, most of whom joined Torggler from Schönherr, also regard arbitration as one of their core skills. The practice lost a junior partner – Barbara Steindl, a former ICC assistant counsel – to another Austrian firm in late 2009. Ulrich Torggler also left to take up a professorship in late 2010.
