The arbitration group dates back to the firm’s founding in 1994 but has built a particularly strong reputation in the Czech Republic in the last decade, also establishing a presence in Slovakia in 2008. Utilities companies and heavy-industry manufacturers are traditional clients. The firm has successfully represented Czech oil tycoon Karel Komárek and his company KKCG Industry in a number of shareholder disputes under ICC rules. E.ON and MVV Energie CZ have also used the firm in recent years. The five-lawyer team reports an increasing number of international cases. Horácek, who teaches at Charles University in Prague, has a growing reputation as an arbitrator and is currently sitting on an ICC tribunal hearing a US$1 billion claim in Zurich.
