The group is led by five partners in Paris, several of whom have held positions at leading arbitral institutions. In October, Carole Malinvaud was appointed chair of the IBA subcommittee on conflicts of interests. Malinvaud is also acting as counsel to publisher Victor Pey Casado in his claim against Chile, the longest-running case at ICSID. In 2008 a tribunal awarded Casado US$10 million plus costs for the expropriation of the newspaper El Clarin by the Pinochet government – the award is currently subject to annulment proceedings. Malinvaud, Kamel Ben Salah and Rupert Reece are all active as arbitrators
