- Who’s Who Name:
- Carlos Nehring Netto
This São Paulo-based firm is home to one of the elder statesmen of Brazil’s commercial arbitration bar, Carlos Nehring Netto. Described in a survey by Latin Lawyer a few years ago as “an elegant man with a brilliant mind and excellent judgement”, Nehring set up the firm in 1967 and continues to work in a variety of capacities – counsel, arbitrator and expert witness. He’s also a council member of ICCA. The firm has three other partners, some of whom also cover trade, investment and privatisation issues. Reflecting the founder’s ties with the ICC and Europe – he is a past court member of the ICC Court – the firm has had an office in Paris since 1976. Nehring co-organised the 20th ICCA Congress in Rio de Janeiro last May – a “dream come true”, he told GAR.
