Vijayendra Pratap Singh is a partner and the head of litigation at AZB & Partners. He has spearheaded various arbitration proceedings pertaining to the validity of shareholder agreements, option contracts, long-term supply, claims on account of cancellation of coal blocks, confidentiality, and franchising and intellectual property issues.
Vijayendra represented the Singapore International Arbitration Centre in the BALCO case before the Supreme Court on the scope and extent of the judicial intervention of Indian courts in foreign-seated arbitration. He currently represents Amazon in its much-publicised dispute with Future Group.
Vijayendra appeared before the Parliament of India’s Standing Committee for External Affairs and provided his recommendations for revising the text of India’s Model Bilateral Investment Treaty in 2016. He has been named by GAR and the Benchmark Litigation Asia-Pacific Awards. He is a visiting faculty member at the Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai and teaches a course on international commercial arbitration to postgraduate students. He has also been a guest lecturer at various universities, including Ashoka University, Sonipat.
