Venus Valentina Wong is a partner at Wolf Theiss, based in Vienna, Austria, and co-heads the firm-wide arbitration practice. She specialises in international commercial and investment arbitration with a focus on matters concerning China, central and eastern Europe, and south-east Europe. She has served as counsel, arbitrator and administrative secretary in approximately 80 cases in institutional and ad hoc arbitration proceedings (including under the rules of the ICC, VIAC, LCIA, DIS, ASEAC, CAS and UNCITRAL, as well as the Swiss Rules). Valentina has studied law and Sinology in Vienna, Amsterdam and Taipei. Before joining Wolf Theiss, she was a university assistant at the Vienna University of Economics and Business and worked for two boutique arbitration law firms in Vienna. She has also worked at CIETAC in Beijing and the ICC International Court of Arbitration in Paris. Valentina is a regular speaker at international conferences and teaches at the law faculty of the University of Vienna and at the Austrian Lawyers’ Academy. She is the author of numerous publications on various international arbitration topics including, most recently, a chapter in Global Arbitration Review’s Guide to Challenging and Enforcing Arbitration Awards (2023). Her working languages are German, English, Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese) and French.
