Samy Laghouati is the partner in charge of the Algiers Office, which he founded in 2003 and of the Tunisian office since 2012.

He has a strong knowledge and practice of Algerian law for more than 20 years as he has been involved in business ventures and investments in Algeria, acting for both public bodies (government agencies and state-owned companies) and foreign investors.

Over the past 20 years, he has been involved in setting up major industrial joint venture companies between Algerian state-owned entities and foreign partners.

For instance, he currently handles several ICC arbitration proceedings under Algerian law including:

  • a dispute between the two shareholders of the biggest Algerian fertiliser joint venture;
  • a dispute between two shareholders of a joint venture operating in the cement industry; and
  • a dispute between the owner and the contractor in connection with the performance of an EPC contract related to the construction of a cement plant.
