Michael Smith

Michael Smith is a director in the forensic services department at BDO. He is a chartered accountant with more than 14 years of accountancy experience and has specialised in forensic accounting since 2011. Prior to joining BDO, Michael worked in the forensic accounting department at a Big Four accountancy firm. Before specialising in forensic accounting, Michael gained three years of audit experience within the oil and gas industry at a Big Four accountancy firm. Michael has worked on a wide variety of cases, including international arbitrations, contractual disputes, loss of profit claims (including business interruption claims), financial investigations and fraud, bribery and corruption investigations. Michael also has extensive experience in post-deal merger and acquisition disputes, including breach of warranty claims, completion accounts disputes, earn-out disputes and expert determinations.
