Dr Mercédeh Azeredo da Silveira acts as counsel in international commercial and investment arbitration proceedings, in particular proceedings involving economic sanctions. She also sits as arbitrator and was designated in 2021 by the Government of Switzerland to serve on ICSID’s Panel of Conciliators and Arbitrators. She regularly serves as expert on economic sanctions, in both court and arbitration proceedings, and advises clients on all sanctions programmes currently in force, including Swiss, EU, UK and US programmes, as well as on issues at the crossroads between public and private international law. She teaches Economic Sanctions and International Arbitration at Sciences Po Law School in Paris, and is the author of multiple publications in the areas of economic sanctions, international arbitration, international trade and mediation, including the award-winning treatise Trade Sanctions and International Sales: An inquiry into international arbitration and commercial litigation.
