Max Stein is a dispute resolution lawyer based in the Frankfurt office of Norton Rose Fulbright. As legal representative, he acts for both governments and companies in contentious matters. In particular, he advises clients in international investment and in international commercial arbitration cases. Max’s recent experience includes representing a Central Asian state in a multibillion-dollar claim under the Energy Charter Treaty, a German investor in a dispute under the German-Czech bilateral investment treaty, an Austrian investor in a commercial arbitration against several other parties in multiple jurisdictions and a Slovenian company in German court proceedings. Energy, construction and transport are industry sectors, in which Max has specific expertise. Max studied law at the University of Heidelberg, the Humboldt University Berlin and the National University of Singapore where he focussed on international investment arbitration. He spent parts of his traineeship working for the German Federal Foreign Office in Berlin and the Norton Rose Fulbright London office.
