Dr Manuel A Abdala has a PhD in economics from Boston University and is executive vice president at Compass Lexecon. He has provided written and oral expert testimony in more than 155 international arbitration cases, involving both commercial and treaty disputes. Dr Abdala has published on topics related to the choices of interest in damages and damage methodologies, as well as on how to value assets involving the exploitation of natural resources. He has also published extensively on topics covering infrastructure economic regulation, institutional design, utility privatisation and valuation, industry structure and competition policy.Dr Abdala has completed projects on ex post privatisation analysis in several countries, including research studies led by the World Bank. He has also served as economic adviser to Argentina’s Secretariat of Energy on the sector reform that took place in the 1990s. He has conducted numerous works and studies for private and public institutions related to economic regulation and competition issues in multiple countries worldwide.
