Jan Woloniecki is a director and head of litigation at ASW Law. He has an LLB from University College London and an LLM from Cambridge University; he is a member of the Bars of England and Wales (1983) and Bermuda (1991); fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators; ARIAS (UK) Certified Mediator; member of the executive committee of the Bermuda branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, member of the London Court of International Arbitration, ARIAS (US) and ARIAS (UK). His principal areas of practice are: international commercial litigation and arbitration; insurance and reinsurance law (co-author of The Law of Reinsurance, Sweet & Maxwell, 4th ed., 2015); insolvency law; trusts law; and banking and financial services law. He has been appointed as an arbitrator in several international arbitrations (ICC, LCIA and ad hoc) held in London, Singapore, Hong Kong and Bermuda. He is currently sitting as a party-appointed arbitrator in three ‘Bermuda form’ arbitrations with a London seat.
