Jae Ha Kwon is an English-qualified foreign attorney in the international arbitration and cross-border litigation practice group at Kim & Chang and a key member of the firm’s shipbuilding and construction arbitration practice. During the past decade, she has built an impressive list of clientele, representing both Korean and international clients across commercial arbitrations, court proceedings and other types of dispute resolutions. As the sole English-trained solicitor in Kim & Chang’s arbitration team when she joined the firm, Ms Kwon’s experience has contributed to the growth of the firm’s arbitration practice, earning her a reputation as a young, female rising star in the region not only within the firm but in the broader market. She is regularly retained on complex construction and commercial disputes, the value of which has ranged up to US$1 billion. Working as a solicitor in the United Kingdom, Singapore and Korea, she has been exposed to various complex issues in many jurisdictions such as Qatar, Iran, Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, Singapore and Korea.
In 2022, Ms Kwon became the first lawyer in Korea to be admitted as a solicitor advocate and, with her enhanced advocacy skills, she has taken more active roles in representing clients at arbitration hearings. She is currently serving as a YIAG (Young International Arbitration Group) regional representative of the London Court of International Arbitration for the Asia-Pacific Region.
