Ignacio is a Senior Counsel with A&O’s International Arbitration Group in Washington D.C. He specialises in investment treaty and international commercial arbitration. Before joining the Washington D.C. office in 2015, Ignacio spent five years practising as a Senior Associate with A&O in London. Prior to that, Ignacio practiced international arbitration in Madrid with Prof. Bernardo M. CremadesIgnacio acts as counsel in complex arbitrations under the rules of the major arbitration institutions, including those of ICSID, ICC, ICDR, LCIA, and the UNCITRAL arbitration rules. He has experience in cases involving a variety of jurisdictions, with a focus on Latin America and Spain.The arbitration cases on which Ignacio has recently worked include, among others, the international law protection of foreign investment from regulatory interference in projects involving a wide range of sectors, particularly oil & gas, renewable energies, natural resources, construction, and engineering.Ignacio also has substantive experience in international commercial arbitration, in disputes arising from different types of contracts, such as concession agreements, joint operating agreements and production sharing agreements, EPC contracts, agency and distribution. In particular, Ignacio has extensive experience in arbitrations under the Rules of the International Chamber of Commerce in arbitrations involving construction and engineering disputes in the energy sector.Ignacio is qualified to practice in England &Wales and in Spain, and is a Special Legal Consultant in the District of Columbia (registration pending).
