Huawei Sun specialises in international commercial and investment treaty arbitration. She has more than 10 years’ experience and has acted as counsel for a range of Chinese and foreign banking and corporate clients in arbitration cases conducted under ICC, UNCITRAL, SIAC, HKIAC, CIETAC and ICSID arbitration rules. The disputes involve joint venture agreements, financial products, trademark, regulatory measures and energy and resources projects.Huawei worked for more than seven years at the Beijing and Hong Kong offices of a leading international law firm, where she was in recent years responsible for managing the firm’s China-related arbitration matters. She has handled several ground-breaking cases, including the first investment treaty case brought against China.Huawei is one of the few mainland lawyers who have extensive experience arguing China-related cases before international tribunals.Huawei is listed on the CIETAC Panel of Arbitrators and has acted as arbitrator in a number of cases, hearing a wide range of disputes including those arising from international sales of goods and cross-border investments.Huawei has a JD degree and is qualified in the State of New York. A native Chinese speaker, she is also fluent in English.
