Diego is the head of the litigation and arbitration department at Benites, Vargas & Ugaz Abogados. Before taking up leadership of the department, he was an associate at very well-ranked Peruvian law firms. He also acted as an in-house lawyer in an oil and gas company with operations in Peru. With more than 10 years of experience in complex disputes in both litigation and arbitration, Diego’s more frequent matters involve public procurement, oil and gas, contract, and business tort disputes, as well as constitutional claims.
He is a qualified lawyer from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru’s Law School with an LLM in comparative and international dispute resolution from Queen Mary University of London. He also carried out post-graduate study in public procurement law at ESAN University (Peru) and in contracts and damages at the University of Salamanca (Spain).
