David Lewis KC is a specialist advocate who practises predominantly in international arbitration. He appears as lead counsel in a variety of commercial disputes, with a particular focus on cases involving energy and natural resources, civil fraud and in-ternational trade (including both commodities and shipping).  He was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1999, became a tenant at 20 Essex Street in 2000 and took silk in 2014 at the age of 36. From 2009 to 2010 he was based in Singapore, practising exclusively in international arbitration, and he still returns to Singapore to appear in arbitration hearings. He has also appeared as sole counsel in arbitrations in Dubai and Hong Kong. He is registered as a practitioner with rights of audience before the DIFC Courts and to appear before the Singapore International Commercial Court. He is regularly praised in the legal directories in a number of categories, and es-pecially for his work in international arbitration. He also accepts appointments to sit as arbitrator, both ad hoc and on institutional terms.
