Carlos Lapuerta is an expert in economic analysis and financial valuation, which he frequently applies to estimate damages as an expert witness in international arbitration proceedings, including many disputes between investors and sovereign states over the alleged breach of bilateral investment treaties. He offers particular experience in the analysis of investments and contracts in the energy sector, and has provided testimony in several arbitration proceedings concerning the prices in long-term energy contracts. Within the energy sector, his work has covered natural gas, coal, electricity and oil.Mr Lapuerta also offers extensive experience with the analysis of competition, including the development of competition in markets subject to liberalization and deregulation, allegations of anticompetitive conduct such as price fixing, and the competitive impacts of proposed mergers.
