Benjamin Siino is a founding partner of Gaillard Banifatemi Shelbaya Disputes. Prior to founding GBS Disputes, he was a partner at Shearman & Sterling LLP, where he practised for more than 10 years.

His experience includes international ad hoc arbitrations, including under the rules of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), and institutional arbitrations under the Rules of the International Chamber of Commerce and the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes, with a strong focus on energy, investment and general commercial arbitrations, as well as arbitrations relating to Africa.

Benjamin also acts as counsel in litigation proceedings, with a focus on proceedings to seek the recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards and foreign judgments. He develops and implements asset-tracing strategies to identify and locate recoverable assets worldwide.

Benjamin acts as a research assistants’ team leader for the New York Convention Guide Project, which led to the publication of the UNCITRAL Secretariat Guide on the Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Arbitral Awards (co-authored by Emmanuel Gaillard) and its online platform, newyorkconvention1958.org, which contains more than 3,500 decisions from national courts throughout the world.
