Barbara Helene Steindl, LLM (Columbia) MCIArb is head of arbitration at Brauneis Klauser Prändl. She acts as counsel in international arbitration proceedings under all major arbitration rules with a focus on energy, plant construction, corporate, cross-border trade, sports and investment protection. In addition, Ms Steindl frequently sits as an arbitrator. Her record in the field further includes service as deputy counsel with the ICC International Court of Arbitration in Paris and appointments as ad hoc clerk for the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne.Ms Steindl is a frequent speaker at international arbitration conferences, was a lecturer on international arbitration at the Speyer University (Germany), holds training seminars on arbitration for corporate counsel for various arbitration institutions and at the Austrian chamber for the continuing education of attorneys. During 2009, she served as a research assistant at Columbia University’s European Legal Studies Centre in New York.Ms Steindl is listed as an arbitration practitioner of the VIAC, as an arbitrator at the International Court of Commercial Arbitration attached to the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and included among the world’s leading commercial arbitrators in Who’s Who Legal: Arbitration 2015 and The International Who’s Who of Construction Lawyers 2014. She is co-author of the VIAC’s Handbook on the Vienna Rules (WKÖ Service GmbH, 2013). In addition to her practice, Ms Steindl serves as a member of the ICC Commission on Arbitration, as a member of ICCA’s taskforce on Protocols for Fair and Efficient Arbitration, and is special projects officer to the IBA’s international sales committee. She was YIAG/LCIA’s central and eastern European representative from 2005 to 2013. Ms Steindl works in German, English and French.
