Aurora Damcali is an experienced litigation attorney, having represented numerous clients in various proceedings in front of the Romanian courts of law of all levels, including the High Court of Cassation and Justice and the Constitutional Court of Romania. Her particular areas of expertise are public-private contracts and related litigations, as well as real estate and construction law litigation. While for almost 15 years her practice has included commercial litigation and civil cases, she has also been involved in a large number of cases of annulment of arbitral awards and of enforcement and recognition in Romania of foreign arbitral awards. She has acted as counsel in commercial arbitral proceedings under the rules of the ICSID (as part of the team representing the government of Romania), of the ICC (having represented various clients, both Romanian companies and foreign investors in Romania) and the rules of the Romanian Court of International Commercial Arbitration attached to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania. Ms Damcali is a certified mediator, having graduated the legal training for mediation under Romanian law, for domestic and international cases. She had made numerous presentations in conferences on civil procedural law issues and is heading the training of the interns within Leaua & Asociatii on procedural law issues. She also reported on Romanian procedural law in various international comparative studies. Ms Damcali is a graduate of the Faculty of Law of the Romanian-American University in Bucharest. She also has an LLM in business law from the Titu Maiorescu University in Bucharest. She is currently a PhD candidate with the Bucharest University Faculty of Law. Ms Damcali speaks Romanian and English and has a basic grasp of French and Italian.
