Arnoldo Wald is the founding partner of Wald e Associados Advogados. He is professor of private law at the University of Rio de Janeiro and was a visiting and associate professor at the University of Panthéon-Assas – Paris II, which granted him the title Doctor Honoris Causa. He was the chairman of the Brazilian Securities Commission (CVM) and member of the National Monetary Council (1988-1989). He has acted for the past 50 years as a litigator and legal expert in litigation cases, and in the last 30 years also as an arbitrator, counsel and legal expert in domestic and international arbitrations, in cases administered by the main international and local institutions, such as the ICC, the AAA/ICDR, UNCITRAL, CCBC, CMA, CBMA, CAMARB, FGV, CAM, BMF/Bovespa and ad hoc. Professor Wald is a member of the ICC International Court of Arbitration (since 2003), vice president of the Brazilian Committee of the ICC and president of its Arbitration Commission and member of the Latin American Group of the ICC Arbitration Commission. Professor Wald is the director and editor-in-chief of Revista de Arbitragem e Mediação and author of several books and articles published in Brazil and abroad. He was also the author of several legislative bills that have turned into law.
