Anuj Berry is a partner at Trilegal and part of the firm’s disputes practice. He has expertise in managing a diverse practice portfolio while specialising in general commercial litigation, shareholder disputes, company law-related disputes and white-collar crime defence matters.
Anuj practices across all major forums with a focus on disputes before the Supreme Court of India. He has also handled ad hoc international arbitration for major domestic and multinational clients.
Anuj has been at the forefront of representing multinational corporations in large and politically sensitive anti-corruption and anti-money laundering investigations with cross-border elements. His expertise in such matters extends to advising clients and members of senior management in all aspects of such cross-border investigations, starting from the internal fact-finding stage and carrying through to developing a strategy to engage with the investigation agency and a defence strategy, and representation before the courts.
Anuj also advises corporations, boards of directors and audit committees on internal investigations regarding a wide range of alleged misconduct, including corruption, financial irregularities and financial statement fraud. Some of the complex internal investigations that he has led have had an interface with parallel regulatory investigations by the Indian SEC and SEBI, which were successfully closed based on the findings of the internal investigation.
