[email protected]Dr Amr A Abbas is a partner and the head of arbitration at Matouk Bassiouny. Dr Abbas also teaches at the faculty of law, Cairo University. Dr Abbas’ practice focuses on international commercial arbitration, international investment arbitration as well as competition and international trade disputes. Prior to joining Matouk Bassiouny, he worked with White & Case LLP and the World Bank in Washington, DC, as well as Sharkawy & Sarhan and Ibrachy & Dermarkar law firms in Cairo. He has also acted as the legal adviser for the Egyptian Competition Authority. Dr Abbas is currently representing clients in arbitration cases at the CRCICA, the CAS, ICSID, the ICC and the LCIA. He has acted as co-arbitrator, sole arbitrator and presiding arbitrator, and as legal expert, in commercial and investment arbitrations.
