Aimee-Jane Lee is an international counsel in the firm’s international dispute resolution Group and is based in the London office. Her practice focuses on international commercial arbitration and litigation, and public international law.Ms Lee has advised private clients and states across multiple jurisdictions (notably in Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe) and a number of industries, including mining, construction, hospitality, advertising and, especially, energy. She has represented clients in arbitrations conducted under the auspices of the main institutions and governed by a variety of substantive and procedural legal systems.Ms Lee advises on the international protection of investments (notably under bilateral investment treaties, the Energy Charter Treaty and investor–state contracts) and represents her clients in associated disputes. She has also advised extensively on treaty drafting and interpretation and the interaction between public international law and domestic law.She is recommended for Public International Law in The Legal 500 UK (2016 and 2017) and Chambers UK (2018) where sources say she “has a rich experience in international investment arbitrations and is quick to spot the key issues”. The Legal 500 UK (2017), which names her as a “next generation lawyer”, states that she is “an exceptional talent” and Chambers has previously noted that she is “praised by commentators as ‘highly committed to her cases and tremendously organised.’ Sources go on to say that she is ‘experienced in international investment arbitrations and quick to spot the key issues.’” Ms. Lee is also recommended for International Arbitration in The Legal 500 UK (2017) where sources note that she “immerses herself in tricky issues and gets to the bottom of them”. She is also named by Who’s Who Legal in its Future Leaders list, which notes that she is “diligent, effective and insightful”.Ms Lee has passed Levels 1, 2 and 3 of the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) exams. She is therefore particularly proficient in assisting clients with quantum-related aspects of their dispute and liaising with quantum experts.
