Alexander G Leventhal is a senior associate in Quinn Emanuel’s Paris office. His practice focuses on international arbitration. Mr Leventhal’s experience touches upon various sectors, with a particular focus on the energy sector. He has represented clients in commercial arbitrations arising out of contractual disputes and has sought recourse on behalf of clients against states for treaty breaches. Mr Leventhal helped lead the team that obtained an order from an ICSID tribunal, which, for the first time, ordered the suspension of extradition proceedings in a third-party state. Prior to joining Quinn Emmanuel, Mr Leventhal worked in the arbitration team of another American law firm in Paris where his practice focused on construction and energy disputes, primarily in the Middle East. Mr Leventhal has written on topics of arbitration law affecting the United States, Europe and the Middle East and served as a member of the Steering Committee of Paris Very Young Arbitration Practitioners (PVYAP). He was also the recipient of the 2018 CPR Y-ADR Award for Effective Collaboration between External and Corporate Counsel and the Special Award in the 2014 Young Arbitrators Match. He currently serves as the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) Young Members Group (YMG) global ambassador for France.
