James H Carter is a senior counsel in the New York office of Wilmer Cutler Pick-ering Hale and Dorr LLP, where he serves as counsel and as an arbitrator. He was previously a partner at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, where his practice involved litiga-tion and arbitration of international commercial and investment matters and intel-lectual property disputes. Mr Carter has been a member of the Court of Arbitration for Sport since 2000 and is an arbitrator appointed by the National Football League Management Council and the NFL Players Association to hear anti-doping disputes in US professional football. He has also participated in more than 150 international commercial and investment arbitration cases. He is chair of the board of directors of the New York International Arbitration Center and has served as chair of the board of directors of the American Arbitration Association, president of the American Soci-ety of International Law, chair of the American Bar Association Section of Interna-tional Law and a member of the London Court of International Arbitration. Mr. Carter is a graduate of Yale College and Yale Law School.
