Oleksandr Volkov is an associate with the international arbitration, litigation and sports law practices, and also the practice of commercial mediation. He specialises in representing foreign and Ukrainian clients in national and foreign courts, international and national arbitrations, focusing on alternative dispute resolution, investments, sustainability, extractives and sports law.
Oleksandr represented state energy companies in various disputes on the transportation of natural gas and oil resources, the supply of electricity, the generation of natural resources and regulatory matters. He also assists clients in obtaining enforcement of court decisions and arbitral awards that come from foreign jurisdictions, as well as from Ukraine.
Oleksandr advises clients on various sports issues, including disciplinary, regulatory and doping matters. He has appeared in disciplinary proceedings before Ukrainian Football Federation and Disciplinary Committee and Ukrainian Premier League; conducted successful negotiations on behalf of top Ukrainian football club in a transfer compensation dispute; successfully represented a Spanish football player in compensation dispute with a Ukrainian football club; advised regional sports federations on regulatory matters; and advised members of the Ukrainian Olympic Team to London Olympics 2012 on disciplinary, eligibility and doping control.
Oleksandr has a master’s degree (with honours) from National University ‘Yaroslav the Wise Law Academy of Ukraine’ and an LLM in dispute resolution from Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University.
