Gabriel Sidere is the managing partner of the Romanian office and head of the arbitration practice in Romania. He has more than 15 years of experience in commercial arbitration and complex business litigation, with a focus on international arbitration matters, in particular providing strategic advice on investment related disputes, as well as representing clients in high-level negotiations involving governmental institutions. He has represented and counselled clients in disputes involving numerous industries, including technology, consumer products, energy, infrastructure, manufacturing and financial services. Mr Sidere recently represented Romania in a US$150 million investment treaty arbitration before ICSID. Romania defeated all of the investor’s claims and awarded US$8 million for legal fees and costs.
Mr Sidere is recognised by Chambers Global as one of the leading experts in international commercial arbitration and business litigation in Romania. He is well known for “his vigorous and energetic advocacy” and for his “effective and efficient resolution of disputes in their early stages”. He was recently described in Chambers Global as a "diversified talent and insightful mind, in terms of understanding the client's situation and needs, and then translating it into a workable plan". Mr Sidere is an accredited mediator and certified advanced negotiator with CEDR.
