Russia spars with former Yukos owners in The Hague

The Court of Appeal of The Hague has held hearings this week as the former majority shareholders of Yukos Oil Company seek to reinstate a US$50 billion award against Russia – with the parties sparring over the provisional application of the Energy Charter Treaty, alleged defects in the award and the investors’ alleged “unclean hands”.
