2017 marked historic low for investment treaty-making, says UNCTAD

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development says that investment treaty-making has plunged to its lowest level in 34 years, with states concluding a mere 18 treaties in 2017 – though the number of publicly known investor-state claims remains high, with 65 new filings, including against Croatia, Spain and India.
