Maja Menard is a partner at Ulčar & Partners in Ljubljana. After graduating cum laude from the Faculty of Law in Ljubljana, Maja completed her master’s degree in Law of International and European Economic Relations at the University of Paris X, where she later also obtained her PhD under the supervision of Professor Alain Pellet, on the subject of jure gestionis activities of states in international law. Having successfully passed the State bar exam in France, she spent four years working in the Paris office of Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP as a member of the Paris Bar Association, before joining Ulčar & Partners in 2010. Having gained many years of experience in the field of international dispute resolution, particularly arbitration, Maja regularly advises clients in the field of public international law, EU law and human rights, and is the author of publications in international law and arbitration. Maja regularly acts as an arbitrator in international arbitration proceedings, and is registered as an arbitrator with the LAC. In addition to her mother tongues, Slovenian and Croatian, Maja is fluent in English and French and also speaks German and Italian.
